How to Watch Naruto Anime in Order?
Though the “Naruto” series is a long one, how it is watched in a particular order together with fillers and movies makes all the difference. Here’s a comprehensive guide to watching Naruto
Anime in the correct sequence:
1. Naruto (Original Series) – Episodes 1-220
This series introduces Naruto Uzumaki, his dream to become Hokage, and his journey as a ninja. The focus is on character growth and story springs like the Chunin Exams and the Search for Tsunade among others.
Watch Order:
Episodes 1-135 (Main Story Arc)
Episodes 136-220 (Mostly Filler – Optional)
Filler Note: Episodes 136–220 are fillers and do not impact the main story. You can skip these unless you want extra content.
2. Naruto Movies (Optional)
These movies are fun to watch with the original series:
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (After Episode 101)
Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel (After Episode 160)
Naruto the Movie: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (After Episode 196)
3. Naruto Shippuden (Episodes 1–500)
The sequel to the series takes place years ahead of the original series and demonstrates a more mature Naruto as he battles the Akatsuki, Tailed Beasts, and the Great Ninja War.
Watch Order:
Episodes 1-451 (Main Storyline)
Episodes 452-500 (Some filler; the final episodes focus on Naruto’s journey to adulthood)
Filler Note: Shippuden contains a fairly large amount of filler episodes. Use a filler guide if you intend to skip these.
4. Naruto Shippuden Movies (Optional 1)
These movies are not canon but can be watched alongside Shippuden for extra content:
This series dubbed as Naruto Shippuden the Movie (After Episode 32)
Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds (After Episode 71)
Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire (The episode that follows episode 126)
Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Hei ningyou jue (After Episode 143)
Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Blood Prison (After Episode 196 also called ‘Escape from Blood Prison’)
Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie (Post episode 251)
The Last: Naruto the Movie (Starting from Episode 500 – Cannon to the original storyline)
5. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Once you finish Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, you can transition to Boruto: Naruto’s Next Generations. This series brings us the sequel of the original Naruto show where Naruto’s son is Boruto along with other next-gen ninjas.
Watch Order: Start from Episode 1. But you don’t have to read it if you’re only here for Naruto’s journey.

Key Tips
- Use a Filler Guide: Yes, most of Part One Naruto episodes and almost all of Part Two episodes are Naruto filler episodes, so you can watch only important episodes.
- Stick to the Canon Movies: If one does not have the time, then watch The Last: Naruto The Movie since it will directly relate to the storyline.
- Read the Manga for Filler-Free Experience: If you did not like the fillers, the way to go through the whole story is faster using the manga.
